The making of Daniel Miller.     Eyebrows.

THEY GREW ME IN THE MID-ATLANTIC with New Orleanian blood, in a house that straddled the D.C.–Maryland border, and they gave me a name that has ineffably shaped my character. To my family and all of my mentors and friends we may accredit any talent or worth I possess.
I love to draw, I love the people in my life, and I love the look of them, and so when I was a kid I contracted myself to portraiture.
I taught myself until I was sixteen, when I enrolled at BARD COLLEGE AT SIMON'S ROCK. There I received my A.A. with honors in May of 2005, and the subsequent Fall transferred to the SCHOOL OF THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS, BOSTON in conjunction with TUFTS UNIVERSITY. Limitations on credit mobility appended one additional semester to my collegiate career. Its four-and-a-half year course was run in December 2007, and I was issued a B.F.A. from Tufts.
I am currently pursuing my M.F.A. at the PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY.
I file my work somewhere under the genre of Magical Realism, and it seems always to progress further toward this heading. Some of my favorite artists are Jenny Saville, John Currin, Alice Neel, Kara Walker, Chuck Close, and Kiki Smith; all the while my heart belongs irretrievably to Michelangelo.
